CONSTRUCTION OF THE AQUATICS CENTER GOING WELL

DELHI, INDIA--Construction of the aquatics center for the 2010 Commonwealth Games is going well, according to reports issued following a tour last week of 17 managers of Australian teams to those Games. Among those visiting last week was Swimming Australia National Head Coach Leigh Nugent, and comments on the pool preparations can be found online here:

UGANDA COMMONWEALTH GAMES SWIM TEAM

UGANDA--The Uganda Swimming Federation has announced a 4-swimmer team for this year's Commonwealth Games in October in India.
Team members are: Sharif Kakooza, Jamila Lunkuse, Ganzi Mugula and Olivia Infield Nakiyingi. The team announcement follows a time trial this past weekend in Lubowa.

NEW ZEALAND COMMONWEALTH GAMES SWIM TEAM:

Following last week's New Zealand Championships, Swimming New Zealand (SZN) has announced a 12-swimmer team for October's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India.
Team members are:
Males (4): Daniel Bell, Moss Burmester, Gareth Kean and Glenn Snyders
Females (8): Lauren Boyle, Amaka Gessler, Tash Hind, Melissa Ingram, Penelope Marshall, Hayley Palmer, Emily Thomas and Natalie Wiegersma.

2018 COMMONWEALTH GAMES

LONDON, UK--Two cities have submitted formal nominations to bid for the 2018 Commonwealth Games: Gold Coast, Australia and Hambantota, Sri Lanka. The 2018 host will be selected at the October 2011 General Assembly of the Commonwealth Games Federation. The Commonwealth Games are held every 4 years, in the even year between Summer Olympics.
Upcoming hosts are: Delhi, India (October 2010) and Glasgow, Scotland, UK (2014).
